Is the animation the reason for the show being trash? No.
It's a childish formulaic isekai with your typical character tropes and minimal deviation: we have seen this plot with these characters before a thousand times. This one is the same formula badly executed, and not even fun-bad, just bad-bad.

A new student (who seems to be a commoner) arrives at a renowned academy isolated on an island and meets "princes" who are quite well-known personalities like an actor and a real prince. I've already read the manga but seeing the anime and living the story yet again is always a wonderful experience.
A story about a couple of students in their youth going through life and love, about coming terms to their own feelings, about not being afraid to confess love.

There is genuinely nothing I can recall that is particularly enjoyable about it; for me, it feels a lot like a mesh of all the shoujo tropes, but never really introducing any substance to them. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, SKIP THE LAST EPISODE. I don't know how, but if you lasted through the majority of the show like I did, the last episode makes EVERYTHING ALL THE WORSE AND COMPLETELY RUINS IT ALL.
